Every startup begins with a problem that needs solving, and ours was no different. As founders who spent years immersed in MENA's entrepreneurship and innovation scene, Emmy Tawfik and Sarah Khalifa saw the same challenge repeating itself: incredible ideas and passionate founders struggling to find visibility, the right connections, and real growth opportunities. The ecosystem was thriving, yet fragmented. Information was scattered, collaborations were missed, and too many promising startups were left unseen. We knew something had to change. Drawing on our combined experience, we decided to build Startup Gate — a unified platform where founders, investors, mentors, and ecosystem partners could finally connect, collaborate, and grow together. Startup Gate has been acquired by GrowthLabs as part of a shared vision to build the region's first end-to-end startup ecosystem infrastructure. This marks a new chapter in our journey, one focused on creating stronger connections, smarter systems, and greater opportunities for the entrepreneurial community. And we're just getting started.
